The project we are featuring from Plume Design recently won the HIA-CSR South Australian Home of the Year 2010 award! Just to make this project even more amazing - the bathroom also took out the South Australian Bathroom Project of the Year 2010 award!

Saturday In Design

New Age Veneers is proud to be teaming up with Gelosa to participate in the 2011 Sydney Saturday in Design.

"Saturday in Design is an annual trade event for the design community, which began in Sydney in 2003, and now alternates each year between Sydney and Melbourne.

It involves Australia’s premier designer furniture, finishes, fixtures and lighting showrooms opening their doors on a Saturday to allow architects, designers, students and design-savvy members of the public to enjoy the products they specify, in a showroom environment.

Saturday in Design has traditionally been an opportunity for local and international products from hundreds of reputable brands to be launched to thousands of members of the design community in 1 day."

We are currently working on an exciting new installation which comprises some of our newest and most awe-inspiring products. This new installation will be ready for Saturday in Design at the Gelosa Showroom located at 35/69 O’Riordan Street, Alexandria.

New Sandblasted Laminate - Smoked Ash

New Age Veneers has added Sandblasted Smoked Ash to the very popular NAVLAM Sandblasted product range. Sandblasted Smoked Ash is a deep brown with an impressive, but not overpowering, dark brown/black crown, finished in a matt coating (5% gloss level).

Sandblasted Smoked Ash is in stock now in sheet sizes 3070mm x 1300mm. Matching ABS edging is also available in 50 lineal metre rolls in sizes: 1mm x 22mm, 2mm x 38mm, 45mm and 54mm.

Earth Hour 2011

For the 3rd consecutive year, New Age Veneers proudly participated in Earth Hour 2011 on Saturday 26th March. Lights, computers and all our non-vital power points were turned off for the weekend.

Earth Hour started in Sydney in 2007, when 2 million people in one city switched off their lights. It is a symbolistic way of showing that the people want to fight climate change and global warming. This year 134 countries participated, clearly showing that the global community wants to achieve a sustainable future!

One of the underlying mottos for Earth Hour this year was to go beyond the hour. Earth Hour means more to New Age Veneers than just this one hour. We have committed to decreasing our energy usage by switching all non-essential power off at the close of business every day. Our staff are all willing and keen to contribute to the benefits that saving power and eliminating carbon emissions can have on the planet.

ABS Diverso Edgebanding

At the initial release of our NAVLAM range there was only one type of edging available - the 0.7mm laminate edgestrip. More recently New Age Veneers has been developing a new edging range to complement our NAVLAM laminates. The New Age Veneers ABS Edgebanding range is now fully stocked and available in over 25 colours.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, or ABS, is a high quality thermoplastic used to make impact resistant, thermally resiliant, light, rigid and environmentally friendly products. It is one of the best thermoplastic materials at resisting shrinkage, warping or de-lamination in areas with elevated heat. The durability and impact resistance of ABS edging makes it an increasingly popular choice for panel edges in high traffic areas.

ABS products are gaining popularity in the industry due to their durability, colourfastness, and low-price yet high-quality.

New Age Veneers have taken one step further with our ABS range. ABS Diverso is our range of designer-focused ABS Edging, featuring designs that replicate popular edging options, such as Stainless Steel, Brushed Aluminium and Plywood. The-Arc networking forum

Wow! What a response!

New Age Veneers was proud to participate in The-Arc networking forums in Sydney on the 10th and in Melbourne on the 18th of November.

The feedback we received from our NAV LiteBoard and NAVECO products was fantastic. Highly respected Architects and Designers loved our newest products and were very keen to get details on them that they could take back and share with their design teams.

NAV LiteBoard is already proving itself as a dynamic and popular product. The scope of clients using it in a wide range of areas is great. NAV LiteBoard can now be found in doors, table tops, bench tops, furniture and many more applications.

NAVECO, our exciting new environmentally friendly range, will be officially launched shortly. A few lucky designers and architects were able to view and feel some of the NAVECO range at The-Arc events. The feedback gained from these people was amazing! It looks as if NAVECO will become a very popular product in Australia as it enables completely new options for design professionals.

The-Arc is a way to gain an understanding of The Arc Agency’s reach into the specification market, as well as a taste of their relationships with specification professionals in the industry. There will be over 350 architects, interior designers, developers and builders in attendance.

Acoustic properties of NAV LiteBoard

Acoustic properties:

NAV LiteBoard acoustic properties have been determined during testing to judge the suitability of NAV LiteBoard in door use. Tests were conducted in comparison with standard particle board and produced the following results:

Extruded particle board 33mm	490	32-33

The decibel value depends mainly from the density and the direction of the wood particles in the board (longitudinal or transversal to the surface). Extruded particle board are the only boards to have transversal direction, hence the slightly higher dB value.

Two of our most popular veneers, Driftwood and Ashen, have been combined to make our latest addition to the Enviroven range;
Chalked Driftwood.

This neutral veneer comes in leaf sizes of 3100 x 650 x 0.6mm. Perfectly suited for larger applications. Chalked Driftwood is in the group 3 price range.

We have had a few production samples hanging around the office for a while and with the limited exposure this veneer has had it is already gaining a good deal of interest by designers.

Two of our most popular Enviroven Veneers have now been released as NAVLAM Sandblasted Laminates.

Lamora and Melaluka were released into the Enviroven Veneers range in late 2008. Since their release they have seen great success in both retail and residential applications.

With the ever increasing interest in the NAVLAM Sandblasted range it was an easy decision to create these two popular colours in the Sandblasted finish.

NAV LiteBoard

NAV LiteBoard is the most recent and the most exciting addition to New Age Veneers product range!

The word "Quality" is regularly associated with German products. Manufactured in Germany, NAV LiteBoard is no exception to this rule. Highly skilled engineers have designed NAV LiteBoard to be a structurally sound, yet lightweight substrate that is proving to be very popular in the Australian design industry.

NAV LiteBoard is constructed in a similar way to normal particle board but has a modified core layer containing a mixture of small polystyrene balls and core layer chips, which are glued using a conventional gluing system. The result is a board material, which is on average 33.5% lighter than particle board, and on average 41% lighter than MDF but can be processed and used in almost exactly the same ways as standard particle board and MDF.

NAV LiteBoard can be supplied as FSC Certified. Using FSC Certified NAV LiteBoard can add to Green Star Credits in eco-friendly building projects. The FSC certification means that components used in the production of NAV LiteBoard are guaranteed to have been sourced from forests which are managed according to a strict set of environmental, social and economic standards, recognised worldwide or from non controversial sources.

NAV LiteBoard is available in thicker sizes than standard particle board, MDF and other similar substrates. These new, thicker sizes open up a whole range of different applications and concepts. NAV LiteBoard is available in 16mm, 33mm, 40mm and 49mm thicknesses.

Duralmond panels

October 2009 saw the release of a new product available from New Age Veneers.

Duralmond is a textured panel made from crushed almond shells and a synthetic resin. The panels are lightweight, very unique and completely waterproof (Sinks and water basins have been made from the Duralmond material).

The almond shells are a byproduct of the nut industry. These shells are destined to end up in landfill. That is until our manufacturer came up with the brilliant idea to recycle them and produce the great Duralmond range. Offering an effective alternative to wood, Duralmond is environmentally friendly, offers high performance and when it comes to design brings an entirely new aesthetic to the market.

Our most popular panel so far has been the Dunes panel with installations going up around Australia.

For those of you who watch morning television you may have noticed the Sunrise and Morning Show sets had a makeover recently. Our Dunes panels were used as the background for the Advertorial set on the Morning Show.
